FAQ Component

Frequently asked questions

What is a noise dosimeter?

A noise dosimeter is a small device worn near the ear that measures how much noise a person is exposed to during a work shift.

Why should I use a noise dosimeter?

It automatically records noise exposure over time, saving you from manual calculations and tracking in noisy or hard-to-access areas.

Who needs a noise dosimeter?

Workers in loud environments such as factories, construction sites, and mines use dosimeters to prevent hearing loss and ensure safety compliance.

How is a noise dosimeter different from a sound level meter?

A dosimeter is worn on the body for personal noise exposure, while a sound level meter is hand-held and measures noise in a specific area.

How do I know if the dosimeter is working properly?

Check that the screen or indicator light is on and the microphone is securely connected before starting measurement.

How is a dosimeter calibrated?

Calibration is the process of checking a dosimeter’s accuracy by comparing its response to a known reference standard. This standard must be traceable to and consistent with a national standard, ensuring that the dosimeter provides reliable and accurate measurements.

What standards does the SV 104 comply with?

It meets IEC 61252:2017 and ANSI S1.25-1991 (R2020) for personal noise dosimeters, and (with accessories) meets IEC 61672-1:2013 Class 2.

Can it run multiple measurement profiles at once?

Yes, the SV 104 supports three independent profiles in parallel, each with its own exchange rate and time weighting settings.

How long does the battery last?

Under typical use, it provides over 40 hours of operation (with display off and octave analysis off) on a full charge.

Does the SV 104 detect misuse or shocks during measurement?

Yes, it has a built-in tri-axial accelerometer (vibration sensor) which logs shock or handling events and flags them in the time history for exclusion from dose calculations
